Roller skating!
A dream coming true: roller skating in Tamera!
During this school year, the roller skating project has accompanied the children of Tamera: The desire to learn how to skate has guided us in gathering our energy and manifesting the materials, until we have regular classes that we are enjoying very much.
Aron Eckmann (10 years old) writes: “It all started with Rita, Silvie, Alma and Meike’s idea. They wanted to offer skating lessons at school, but there was a problem! We didn’t have skates for everyone, and we didn’t have any protective gear! So we baked cakes and sold them. This way we earned about 300 euros. With this money, we bought new skates and protective gear, and then we started skating lessons.”
Lucia Baillie Bandini (age 10) adds, “I really like the skating classes. I knew how to skate before the classes, but now I can do tricks. There are two groups. I’m in the advanced group. Next winter we will go ice skating.”

Now, at the end of the school year we write summaries about the history of the project and our experiences:

It all started with Alma, Silvie, Rita and Meike’s idea. But when we wanted to start, we had a problem! We had no skates and no protection. So we had another idea: have a cake day! We made three cakes and sold them. We went to houses to sell cake to people who could give as much as they wanted. In the end we got about 304.50 euros.
Then Meike, who was going to be our teacher, bought the skates, protectors and bags for everyone. Now we have roller-skating lessons every Wednesday. I really like the roller-skating classes. I knew how to skate before the classes, but now I can do tricks. There are two groups. I am in the advanced group. Next winter we will go ice skating. Lucia Baillie Bandini (10 years old)
